Deconstruct to Reconstruct

During Art lessons this week in Year 5, we have been looking at construction and deconstruction, and how these can be used to create artwork. We discussed the different ways of ‘deconstructing’ something, including cutting, ripping, scratching and more! Then we got to have a go deconstructing different materials, which was great fun!

After we did this, we used pieces of card to draw the outline of a river, before using our freshly deconstructed materials to create something new. The children were very creative, combining different materials in order to create a 3D effect, whilst ensuring their work remained relevant to the theme.

The children are all looking forward to creating their final piece next week!
