This term in Year One we will be learning about plants and growing plants.
While the sun is shining we have taken the opportunity to learn about different kinds of plants. Firstly we learnt what a plant is and we discovered flowers, trees, fruit and vegetables can all be plants. That was followed by going on a plant hunt around the school grounds. After that, we first watched a video to show how cress grows and then learnt how to plant the cress seeds by following a set of instructions. We decorated our pots to make a silly face, then soaked cotton wool in water and added this to our pot. Finally, we sprinkled cress seeds on top of the cotton wool. The next day the children couldn’t believe that the cress had already started growing. We looked at the tiny shoots under the class visualiser. We can’t wait to see how tall our cress grows.
