Remote Learning
Harlow Green Primary is committed to supporting your child’s learning even when circumstances require emergency use of remote learning. This approach is designed to help children continue making progress while maintaining a clear routine at home.
We will provide access to online software and learning resources aligned with our curriculum. Where possible, tasks will be short, structured, and clearly explained so that you can support your child without needing specialist knowledge.
Please remember that remote learning is not expectation for everyday teaching. It is an additional option used when we need to adapt quickly, and we will communicate timelines, expectations, and support clearly if it becomes necessary.
Use of Software
Children already have access to English and mathematics software that they use for homework (e.g. Reading Plus, Times Tables Rock Stars, My Maths). If children are absent from school due to illness, but parents/carers feel they are well enough to access work, these programmes can be used.
Where emergency remote learning is required, these programmes will form the basis of the core offer. This will be supported with specific activities that teachers will set which may involve providing access to materials offered by schools such as books and stationery.
Teacher Communication
During the pandemic, the development of remote communication meant that there was the opportunity for teachers to communicate directly with children and families. Where there is a medium/long term need for remote education for the community, this will be considered in order to to support learning to the highest standard.
