Sewing in Year 5!
As part of our final D.T. topic of the year, Year 5 have put their sewing skills to the test by designing and creating their own textile piece inspired by our recent RE topic on Islam.
To begin the project, the children explored three possible designs, before selecting one that they would replicate onto the piece of binca. Before starting to produce their final piece, the class practiced a range of sewing techniques, developing their confidence with running stitch, back stitch and over stitch. The children showed fantastic perseverance as they learned how to thread needles, tie knots and improve the accuracy of their stitching.
Once they had time to practice, the children carefully began creating their final designs, demonstrating patience and resilience.
