Rights Respecting Officers 2026-2027

At the beginning of every academic year, each class across school takes part in our Rights Respecting Officer elections. This gives our children the opportunity to put themselves forward for an important role and have their voices heard. 

What is a Rights Respecting School?

A Rights Respecting School is a school that puts children's rights at the heart of its policies, practices and culture. Our approach is based on the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). 

At Harlow Green, our children learn about their rights, understand the rights of others and experience those rights being respected every day by the adults who support and care for them. 

What is a Rights Respecting Officer?

Our Rights Respecting Officers are a group of children from across school who help to ensure that children's rights are promoted and put into practice throughout our school community. They play an important role in making sure their own views, as well as the views and ideas of their peers, and help to make a positive difference across school. 

Meet our new Rights Respecting Officers!

This year we are delighted to welcome 15 new Rights Respecting Officers, who are ready and raring to go!

Throughout the year, our officers will have the opportunity to:

• Take part in important decision-making across school. 
• Help organise and support fundraising events. 
• Take part in external visits and opportunities. 
• Listen to and represent the views of their classmates. 
• Continue developing and improving our playgrounds. 
• Promote children's rights and help make Harlow Green an even better place to learn and grow. 

We are incredibly proud of our new Rights Respecting Officers and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have across our school community this year. Well done to all 15 children who were elected by their peers staff on their election speeches.
