Our amazing artists

Our new Art unit has been all about printing, and the children have had a fantastic time exploring different techniques and creating their own artwork.

We began by learning about some famous artists, including Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso. We explored their artwork and thought about how artists use different styles, colours and techniques to create their work.

Then it was time to become artists ourselves! The children experimented with a range of different textures to see what effects they could create when printing. We tested cardboard, bubble wrap and Lego, carefully comparing the different patterns and textures. The children decided that Lego created the most interesting effect because of its bumpy surface. They also loved listening to the sound of the roller as they experimented with the cardboard!

We then moved on to creating our own printing patterns using monoprints and stamp blocks. The children showed great creativity as they experimented with shapes, patterns and textures to produce their own unique designs.

We think you will agree that our children have done an amazing job! Who knows, perhaps we have some budding artists in our midst!
