Whilst the Rain Poured

As the rain came down in torrents, some of our Year 5 children set up games in the Angel Court Community rooms. The residents heard the hullabaloo and came to join in the fun. It was a lovely afternoon, nice to have time to chat, Maisie sang songs from her childhood and reminisced about playing dominos with her grandad. We talked about our birthdays, Carol was born on Christmas Day, hence the name. Maisie came into the world on Good Friday. She explained to the children that her father was killed in the war in November, whilst her mum was carrying her, then she was born in April, so she never met her dad. The children asked her lots of questions, she said she didn’t mind, it was lovely to talk about these things after all these years. All this was happening as Carol kept a beady eye of domino proceedings, As a pub landlady she said there would be no cheating on her watch!

Before our visit took place, Miss Rowe and Dominic, the amazing horticulturalist that designed the Platinum Parterre, began to plan out how the Angel Court garden will be replicated at school. He spent a few hours looking around our school site. Our version will be a little wilder of course, linking into our Forest School but everyone is very excited to get started. So watch this space to see how things develop over the next few months.
