Wants vs. Needs
This week in RE, Year 5 have been recapping and adding to their existing knowledge of Christianity.
The children have been learning about Jesus’ teachings in the Sermon on the Mount and exploring the meaning behind the Beatitudes, thinking about how these messages encourage people to show kindness, compassion, humility and forgiveness towards others.
We have also looked at the meaning of giving alms and discussed how helping those in need, sharing what we have and giving to others can make a positive difference in our communities. Before this, the children looked at what could be classified as 'wants' and what could be classified as 'needs'. This was an interesting discussion, and the children explained their thoughts and points clearly.
