Transition 2026
Transition Day at Harlow Green Primary School was a highly successful and positive experience for all pupils, providing a valuable opportunity for children to move into their new classes and begin working with their new teachers.
The day was carefully planned to ensure that pupils felt both excited and reassured about the upcoming academic year. Classrooms were welcoming and engaging, and staff worked hard to create an atmosphere where every child felt comfortable, confident, and ready to embrace change.
Throughout the day, a wide range of thoughtfully designed activities were implemented to help pupils understand what will be expected of them in their new year groups. These activities included making birthday cards, a quiz about their new teacher, reviewing rules and expectations, and looking at what will be studied over the coming year. Importantly, these experiences not only familiarised children with new routines and expectations but also supported them in forming new and important relationships with both their peers and teachers, laying strong foundations for a successful year ahead.
This Transition Day took place within the wider context of Year 6 pupils spending time at their new secondary schools, marking a key milestone in their educational journey. While the older pupils began preparing for the next stage of their education, the rest of the school community embraced their own transitions with enthusiasm. Overall, the day ensured that all children felt supported, prepared, and optimistic about the changes ahead.
