Making Roman Chariots!
Making Roman Chariots! at Harlow Green Primary is a fun, hands-on project for primary-age children. We start with a simple design idea and work together as a team to plan what our chariot will look like. Using careful measurements and clear steps, children learn that good design takes time, patience, and teamwork.
Next, we gather materials and begin building. Children may use saws to cut lightweight pieces safely, and they learn how to handle tools responsibly with adult support. Glue guns can be used for strong joins, helping parts stick neatly together so the chariot model looks impressive and sturdy.
Finally, we bring everything together and add finishing touches. Children review their design, improve details, and share ideas with their classmates to make each chariot unique. This project is a great way to practise team-work, develop confidence with tools, and celebrate creativity—while parents can see how learning comes alive through making.
