Hieroglyphs, Hot Chocolate and Hidden Clues
Year 3 have launched their exciting new English text, The Ancient Egypt Sleepover by Stephen Davies, and what an unforgettable start it has been!
The children became detectives as they explored a collection of mysterious clues, including a golden death mask, a canopic jar and a scarab beetle. Using these artefacts, they made predictions about what their new story might be about before opening the book and reading the first three chapters.
To make the experience even more exciting, hidden inside each book was a special golden ticket inviting the children to a museum sleepover, just like the characters in the story!
The following day, Year 3 continued their Ancient Egyptian journey by deciphering messages written in hieroglyphs to uncover clues about the plot. They also carefully crafted their own clay amulets, inspired by the protective charms used thousands of years ago. To finish the experience, the children tasted figs and dates, foods commonly eaten by Ancient Egyptians, alongside a warming cup of hot chocolate.
We can't wait to see where this thrilling adventure takes us next as we continue our journey into the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt!
