Buddy Reading
Our school’s buddy reading sessions are a wonderful opportunity to bring children together through a shared love of books. Children from our older classes visit the younger classes to read with them, sharing stories, exploring new vocabulary and helping to develop their reading skills. These sessions provide a relaxed and enjoyable environment where younger children can build their confidence, develop their fluency and discover the joy of reading with a supportive older role model.
Buddy reading benefits children of all ages. Our younger readers enjoy the encouragement and enthusiasm of their older buddies, while the older children develop their confidence, communication skills and sense of responsibility. These special moments help to strengthen relationships across our school community, fostering kindness, cooperation and a lifelong love of reading. It is wonderful to see our children learning from one another and sharing the magic of books together!
