A Sparkling Celebration - All about Diwali
The children in Year 1 have had a fantastic time learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Light! The children explored the beautiful traditions of how Hindu families prepare for and celebrate this special time of year.
We dived into a week full of creativity, storytelling, and hands-on play. The children coloured their own vibrant Rangoli patterns and created beautiful Diwali cards to share festive wishes. We listened carefully to the traditional story of Rama and Sita and even acted out some parts.
Our classroom role-play area transformed into a bustling Diwali home! The children loved acting out real traditions by:
- Cleaning and tidying the home using dustpans and brushes to welcome good fortune.
- Dressing up in beautiful, festive outfits.
- Sharing family feasts and exchanging cards with one another.
- Using the puppets to take on the roles of Rama and Sita.
The children have had so much fun!
