Social Media Safe

This afternoon, Year Six took part in an online safety lesson as part of their Computing curriculum.

Firstly, the children were asked to list the online apps they go on at home. It was interesting to hear about the social media and video game apps they visit and all about what they entail. Secondly, they were given pictures of different app logos and they had to name the app – lots of the children could name all of these confidently which shows their knowledge of the online world. Lastly, the children were given the challenge of guessing the age restriction for each app. This was a task which proved more difficult as some children were unaware that the apps they used had age restrictions on them. The children came away with an understanding of the importance of age restrictions on online apps and were able to explain that, in order to stay safe online, they must follow the guidance on when to use them.
