This week Year Two took part in a treasure hunt around the school to find out which book they would be reading in English this term.
First, they found a clue in their classroom, telling them that they needed to follow the remaining clues to reach their book. Each clue was written as a rhyme and revealed the location of the next one. There were also objects to find along the way to help the children to predict what their new book would be about. After visiting the pond and the forest school, the children found a globe. They therefore predicted that their book might involve travelling around the world.
Next, the children found a snail with a clue under a rock. When this led them to a whale they were very confident in their predictions that they would be reading ‘The Snail and the Whale’. The children were very excited to find their new book next to the pond. The boys and girls have enjoyed exploring the story this week and they are looking forward to getting to know this book even better over the next few weeks!
