<![CDATA[During the visit we were shown around by one of the Falcons training staff. We were given a full tour of the stadium and even got to explore the changing rooms! Did you know that the stadium has its very own hot tub that can be hired out to watch the match from!

After the tour we went out onto the training pitch and were taught some new skills. The morning finished with a game of tag rugby which was great fun! After lunch we went into the clubhouse to use the 'Falcons Learning Centre'. The computer equipment was fantastic and we were able to edit our own films about the club using still and moving pictures. We even added our own graphics and titles!

Harlow Green Primary was represented at the Gateshead International Cross Country Festival by Year 6 pupils Emma, Harry, Dylan and Andrew. The tournament attracted schools from across the North East, to challenge themselves on part of Gateshead's international world cup cross country circuit.

All of our athletes set new personal bests on a very demanding circuit, where even some international runners failed to achieve in the main events later that day. Special praise has to go to Emma, who was our only contestant in the girls race. However, despite the pressure of carrying the hopes of Harlow by herself, she never gave up running to set a new standard for effort and achievement. Well done you, from all the boys.

The boys performed excellently as a team, Dylan led the way with a very impressive time in difficult conditions, but then really shone as he encouraged Harry and Andrew on to great success. All I can say is, 'WHAT A TEAM!'

A big thank you also to the parents who came to support our athletes, they helped to turn a good day into what was a fabulously enjoyable event, one I look forward to doing again next year.

Well done to you all, from a very proud Mr Hilton.

While learning portrait skills, pupils in Year 4 tried their best to capture the best sides of the staff. Thankfully they were successful in getting the lady's just right, how could they go wrong I hear you say! However, I still think Mr Hilton and Mr Allen need some serious work, but maybe cosmetic surgeons are the real answer!

Well done to all our artists, you really had to use all your artistic skills and imaginations to create those wonderful portraits.

Thanks from all the Year 4 staff, we are very proud of them all.

During the Autumn term the children of Year 4 learnt about the Inuit People of the Arctic Region. They have investigated how Inuits survive in the harsh Arctic Climate, (a little like Harlow Green when it snows!), the close relationship the Inuits have with the environment around them, but most of all, Year 4 explored the importance of story-telling to keeping Inuit traditions alive.

We created our own tales with mythical creatures and natural gods, we practiced being Shamen and guardians of tradition, but best of all we told stories to each other, creating exciting images to teach a message of community.

To show how good we are at sending messages, we even created our own TV show "Polar Perils'. Everyone was involved from the writing of the script, to presenting the show, to directing the guests and even to creating the props and power points to make the shows dynamic and give it the 'WOW' factor!

This term our topic of study is 'Around the World in 8o Days'. However, unlike the story by Jules Verne, our adventures wont be led by Mr Phileas Fogg, but a rather strange group of explorers and characters from the North East of England!

Our first port of call is Africa, where we learn all about the people and culture of this wild and exciting land. Mr Allen and Mr Hilton will even be learning to dance in their wellies, as the famous African Gum Boot Dancers visit Harlow Green. (Pictures to follow!)

From Africa we travel to the Caribbean and South America. Here we will investigate how the history of a region, can transformed it into one of the strangest and most wonderful places to visit in the world. We will also be meeting some famous historical characters, so watch out for land shipmates, as we travel into the unknown!
