As a result of looking at the 1960s throughout the term, Year 5 thought they would have a spot of fun by having an entire day dedicated to the 1960. This included having lessons in the style of the 1960s, learning more about events in the era and best of all...dress up in the style of someone from the 1960s!!!
Click below to find out about all the groovy things we did and all the fun we had!
The day started by having lessons in the style of 1960s. Tables were separated, children had to answer questions whilst stood up smartly and whenever an adult entered the room, the children had to stand to attention!
If we did not obey the class rooms we were even given lines!
After our 1960s lessons we created posters and banners as hippies and had a hippie peace march around the school, highlighting the hippie key beliefs.
Finally, we ended the day by re-creating a typical 1960 concert and sang along with some of the classic hits from that time.
It was an amazing day, where we really thought about what life was like back in the 1960 and how different some things were...especially school!
Peace out!
