On the 22nd June 2009 year 5 were transported to another time- The Victorian era!
Once there we decided to try out the local transport- a Tram. We visited local shops around the area, such as a sweet shop, a Dentists and even a Barlcays bank.
After considering what to spend our hard earned shillings on, we headed for our Victorian lesson, at the old school house. We took part in a real lesson, including times tables, handwriting and calculating change from pennies and shillings. We had to create a boys line and a girls one, and sit up straight at all times. The teachers were very strict in those days and you even had to stand up to answer questions.
After our lesson we had lunch, then headed for the Colliery, where coal was collected from mines, ready to be transported around Great Britian on amazing steam trains.
Some of us even visited a Victorian farm.
When we had explored enough, we headed back to 2009 and Harlow Green Community Primary school.
