Tyneside Cinema Newsreel

Calling all budding film makers...

Year 5 are proud to announce our participation in a regional project entitled 'Newreal' where our students will be directing, filming, staring, narrating and providing props for a child run newsreel . The idea was based on the original newsreels which were created in the 1937 Newcastle based, Tyneside Cinema, founded by Dixon Scott. A newsreel is a short film featuring a number of different news stories, they are accompanied by music and usually contained voice overs with distinctive English accents.

We can't wait to get stuck in to the planning, production and post production work and finally to see our newsreel actually screened at the Tyneside Cinema later on in the year!
