Inuit Tales : Autumn 2008

During the Autumn term the children of Year 4 learnt about the Inuit People of the Arctic Region. They have investigated how Inuits survive in the harsh Arctic Climate, (a little like Harlow Green when it snows!), the close relationship the Inuits have with the environment around them, but most of all, Year 4 explored the importance of story-telling to keeping Inuit traditions alive.

We created our own tales with mythical creatures and natural gods, we practiced being Shamen and guardians of tradition, but best of all we told stories to each other, creating exciting images to teach a message of community.

To show how good we are at sending messages, we even created our own TV show "Polar Perils'. Everyone was involved from the writing of the script, to presenting the show, to directing the guests and even to creating the props and power points to make the shows dynamic and give it the 'WOW' factor!
