These are our topics for the year.
Year 5-
This year, year 5 will be looking at the topics of 'Heroes and Heroines', 'Planet Earth' and 'The Victorians'.
Heroes and Heroines
During the Autumn term we have looked at the life and times of Martin Luther King and Andy Warhol, and focused on the 1960’s. We are looking forward to finding out more about Roald Dahl and his work on ‘The Witches’. We will also focus on popular artists and the work of Banksy. We have visited the HG CLC and completed sessions on Monitoring change and controlling devices.
We have been lucky to have visits from Zoolab, learning about habitats and a variety of animal species.
Npower came to our school and heightened our interest in the environment. We have started to find out more about renewable energy supplies and what we can do to save energy.
During this term we have enjoyed dressing up as our favourite book character, take a look at some of our photos!
Oo la la, recently we had a 'French day' and came in dressed in the colours of the French Tricolor. We had fun throughout the day answering French quizes, sketching the Mona Lisa, creating an Eiffel Tower and sampling the delights of French cruisine in la Cafe.
Planet Earth
This topic focuses on Science and the relationship we have with our planet. We are looking forward to learning more about recycling and trying to be environmentally friendly.
We hope to visit our local area and conduct surveys which help us find out more about the infrastructure of our area.
The Victorians
The Summer term will see year 5 heading to Beamish focusing our learning on the Victorians and their lifestyles. We will also be thinking about keeping healthy and how our lifestyles have changed since 1900.
Year 5 will have the benefit of a music teacher to assist children in their knowledge of music and performance skills.
