We love to be in Harlow Green Nursery! Every day is different with new challenges and activities.
Our friendly and helpful teacher is Mrs Nesbitt who is covering maternity leave for Mrs Kennedy whilst she is busy looking after her new baby boy, Oscar. We are very lucky to have lots of help from Mrs Hall our wonderful teaching assistant and Mrs Hopkins comes to see us twice a week. We also have lots of other adults in Nursery who come to visit us, we like it when Miss Peel, Mrs Stobbs and Mrs Madgwick spend some time with us.
We have 25 children attending morning nursery and 12 in the afternoon, although we are expecting lots of new friends to start soon. As you can imagine things can get very busy and very noisy! This academic year we are going to be learning lots of fantastic things. Our topics are Ourselves, Celebrations, Traditional Stories and Nursery Rhymes, Food and Animals. Our role play area is changed every term, our latest one is a supermarket where we can write shopping lists, buy and pay for our food and meet with our friends for a chat. We have a reading corner; full of interesting books for us to share with our friends. We can even take a book home with us to read with our family. Every week we visit the library upstairs and we are very good at keeping quiet, sitting smartly and reading our choice of book. There are always lots of fun, interesting things for us to build with in the construction area. We especially like to make long train tracks that weave in and out of the tables and chairs. Sometimes, we like to play in the sand and water where lots of things are hidden for us to find and count. We are just learning to write our own names and we are getting really good at making sure we write them on all of our work. Mrs Nesbitt and Mrs Hall calls us Super Stars now that we are trying to write our names. We love going outside to have a good run about. Our favourite activity is to play on the bikes and scooters, and we always try to take turns with these and share with our friends. We are very lucky in Nursery to go on soft play twice a week and practice our jumping, crawling, travelling and balancing! There are milk and snacks every day, and after this we like to listen to a story, sing nursery rhymes and songs. We choose a different Special Person every day and we are very good at telling that person why they are so special. We all take turns with this and hope it might be us soon! Every Friday one of us gets the chance to take home the Nursery dogs, Bella and Buttons. We look forward to it being our turn so we can spend the weekend doing lots of fun things and recording this in our special diary with photos and a letter from home.
