Hello! We are the Year One team.
It is great in Year One and we have lots of fun! To support the transition from Reception to Year One the curriculum is initially play based. In the autumn term our topic was ‘Homes’ where we learnt about different kinds of homes and homes from the past. We also went on a visit to Lamesley church where the children had a chance to dress up in the vicar’s special clothes!
This term our topic is ‘Things that move’. We have learnt about 'Ourselves' and how we move. We are currently learning about toys and games from the past and will be growing and learning about different kinds of plants.
In the summer term our topic will be ‘Holidays’. We will be finding out where different places are in the world and we will be following Barnaby Bear on his travels. We will also learn about what seaside holidays were like in the past. We are really looking forward to our visit to Saltwell Park.
